Our Costumes

Picture
We make Mascot/fursuit costumes.
Our costumes are lightweight and hollow and built for performance. Our heads are designed with the goal of providing the best possible hearing, ventilation and vision capability for the wearer.

Our suits are ideal for long duration costuming, dancing or for performing while in costume. We offer options such as LED's in the eyes, poseable tongues and eyelids, and multiple fan options as well.

Our Costume heads feature unique foam-only moving jaws. No resin, Plastic or heavy interior needed to achieve these effects. The costume heads are made with various foam types and a custom magnetic mouth hinge designed by our team and made in our studio.

Bodysuits are made with hollow lightweight leg padding, plus zip-on or snap-on feet for digigrade suits and a zip-on tail option for most tails. These zip-on features allows for easy cleaning and seamless appearance when performing.

Ear vents on each side leave each side open so you have no foam against your ears when you wear the suit. When the suit is complete, you only have one layer of fur between your ears and the outside world so your hearing ability is nearly unhindered.

The interior of our fursuit heads is fully lined in places where foam would contact your face. The gaps between the lining are to allow heat to escape around the facial structures. You can also see on the right, one of the ear "vents" that surrounds your ear that also allows heat to escape.

About Our Team:

Picture
Skye Cabbit is the founder and owner of Thunderhowl Studios. She has been making costumes since 2014, and has many years of experience making moving jaw costumes. You can see images of her personal costumes to the left.

Seeking a method to allow moving jaws in foam heads, Thunderhowl discovered a method involving foam helmets and EVA foam. After 5 years of perfecting these "foam helmet" base heads, we've been able to incorporate:
*ear vents for better hearing and ventilation
*wide range vision in the eyes for the best vision possible and minimum blind spots
*ultra lightweight foam heads (roughly 1.8lbs)
*more sensitive moving jaws
*Fully lined interior

In our journey finding our design style, we first perfected the insides of the heads. Then only after that have we decided to focus on the exterior and appearance. You haven't truly seen what our suits are capable of until you've worn a head by Thunderhowl Studios.

We put our heart and soul into the costumes we create. Often even moreso than the effort we put into our own suits. We strive to always improve as people and as suit makers, while maintaining our current head style.
